“Breakout”

My apologies for posting twice in one day, but I had actually forgotten that a short story was scheduled to appear yesterday–making six publications for this month.

It’s a tale of the mild repression that families often impose on competent old folks, and takes place at the interface of suburbia with the harsh and beautiful California desert hills. A discovery that should be terrifying, but oddly isn’t, cements a friendship between two rebels fifty years apart in age.
