“The Deep Blue Sea”

My short story, “The Deep Blue Sea,” is now available in the Arlington Literary Journal, aka ArLiJo.

The story centers on work, class, race, family, comradeship, and, of course, the sea. It’s set in a community modeled on the hillside tracts of Malibu, and the work as described is work I have actually done recently, when I worked for a landscaping contractor. Naturally, all the personages in this story are fictitious (in fact, my crew boss was a woman), but the hills, the sea, the boats, and people’s loves and pretensions are not.
