The timeline’s a bit tight, but it looks like my children’s book will be released at the end of this month. I just sent the publisher, Basil E. Bacorn, final corrections, and the story goes to press in a week or so.
We now have a title, decided upon after much back-and-forth by email. The working title had simply been the names of the main characters, Jack and Bear, but it is now called Journey through the Shadowlands–an appropriate indication of the quest the two embark upon through a mysterious (to them, of course, not to the inhabitants) underground realm which is on the brink of a deadly conflict. There are as many twists to the story as there are in the path they follow, and a good bit of excitement, if I do say so myself. I had not read it through since my own last revision in 2015, so I could see it with an outsider’s eyes more or less.
A cover art reveal is scheduled for June 18th, and will of course be featured here.
And then, it will be a book, on shelves in stores and libraries and, quite possibly, your home. Even a grownup might like it–to read a loud to a child, or silently to oneself. There’s a lot more to it than just the plot. What that “lots more” might be, I leave it to you to discover.
