“Walking on the Sun”

This is not a publication in the formal sense of the word; I have just entered this story into a contest at a book review site, because it seemed close to the theme, and because there was a chance at a cash prize, which we could certainly use in these uncertain times. You can increase that chance for me if you read the story and (should you appreciate it sufficiently) then give it a “vote.”

The story was from my own personal slush pile, but it is a good and heartfelt tale, and only one thousand words long.
