I have just been notified that my unpublished collection of short stories has been chosen as a finalist in the Tartt First Fiction Award managed by the Livingston Press at the University of West Alabama.
However, since they also announced a winner, I presume that a finalist is all I am in this competition; still, it’s good news. If I understand correctly finalists are considered for publication by the press, but not guaranteed it. Still, it’s a chance, and it’s a recognition. I also received a short personal note from the editor indicating his appreciation of my work.
So maybe it’ll work out. Of course I am still sending the collection to other presses. Fingers crossed etc.
